A Busy Month for Craft Beer Legislation

Craft Beer Aficionados,

It has been a busy legislative month. The Craft Beer Modernization Bill has passed the State House and will be voted on in the Senate today. It is expected to pass by a large margin. The Omnibus Bill is still working its way through committees, but is not seeing any clear opposition.

On a national front, North Carolina craft brewers and Guild staff descended on the Capitol in D.C., lobbying to make excise tax reform permanent, as well as discuss the detrimental effect tariffs are having on the craft beer industry. The good news here is that there is bipartisan support for addressing excise tax relief and the tariffs on Canadian and Mexican steel and aluminum have now been lifted. This is a huge benefit for our brewing community.

Finally, the Charlotte Observer posted an op-ed piece outlining the progress in the industry, and noting the issues we still face. Read it here: https://www.charlotteobserver.com/latest-news/article230518659.html

Thank you for your support… because of you, our industry continues to grow and make legislative strides.

Cheers!
